The big news today is the strike notice having been issued by the Vanuatu National Workers Union on behalf of 137 Airports Vanuatu Limited staff. They want their Chief Executive Officer, Jason Rakau, re-instated immediately. They regard the replacement of Rakau by another at the behest of the politically appointed Board of AVL, when that other is facing facing serious misconduct charges, as unacceptable. The other major item is the re-appointment of Dennis Nai as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the People's Republic of China.
