It was said that Kilman had indicated he did not wish to remain a minister of the present government. The Epi MP, Isaac Amariliu, was also terminated as Government Whip. Radio Vanuatu News suggested there were moves afoot touching on allegiance to the government. That said, Daily Post reported the Opposition being unable to confirm a no trust motion. Nineteen Opposition Members of Parliament will face bribery charges on June 12 says Post. The Police claim that the Port Vila MP and Opposition Leader Carcasses has no money-lending business and loans allegedly issued by him to MPs are contrary to the Leadership Code. With the completion of the business of the first Extra-ordinary sitting of Parliament this morning, as indicated in this Digest earlier this morning, it has now been announced that the first Ordinary sitting will take place on Monday. Finance Minister Maki Simelum yesterday signed an agreement with the World Bank for the urgent work needed to restore Bauerfield runways and build a new domestic terminal. Airports in many places in Vanuatu will benefit from the agreement, especially the international airports. And an airport master plan and aviation sector strategy to guide future development will be drawn up. It is to be hoped no need will be seen for a new 747 airport on Efate. Daily Post reported the agreement in some detail this morning. An official employment agency has begun in the wake of cyclone Pam - the Employment Service Vanuatu (ESV). Labour Minister Charlot Salwai launched the service yesterday. ILO has assisted in setting up the facility and the government is appreciative. Minister Salwai is also reported telling Parliament yesterday that with changes to the municipal legislation for Port Vila a system was introduced which gave one man two votes.
