Photo: Wikimedia Commons In a further blow to Vanuatu's air travellers and battered tourism industry, Virgin Australia has just announced that its Port Vila service has been suspended until further notice, after representatives from the airline inspected the deteriorating condition of the Bauerfield runway over the weekend. Customers who are booked to travel to or from Vanuatu will be provided with either a refund, change of destination or travel credit, says the airline. Virgin Australia is the third airline to suspend their Port Vila service, following similar announcements last week from Air New Zealand and Qantas. Earlier this week, Vanuatu's Civil Aviation Authority directed Airports Vanuatu Limited, the operators of Port Vila's Bauerfield International Airport, to upgrade the runway. Air Vanuatu, Aircalin, Fiji Airways and Solomon Airlines are all still flying in and out of Port Vila — for now. dailyvanuatu | January 28, 2016 at 5:53 pm | Tags: Airports Vanuatu Limited, aviation, Bauerfield, Vanuatu, Virgin Australia | Categories: Breaking News | URL: http://wp.me/p2A4RK-Pv Comment See all comments Unsubscribe to no longer receive posts from Vanuatu Daily Digest.
